Kingswells Bus service

There have been a few complaints about buses in Kingswells that do not appear at all the bus stops in Kingswells. It would appear as if the buses are diverted by the contol room.

Can you please let KCC know if this is happening to you, or if you have other issues with the bus service.

The service is supposed to be every 15 minutes. If this is not what you experience then please let KCC know.

Thanks

Ian

Consultation on Traffic Calming at Fairley Road

The residents of the streets around Fairley Road are currently being asked for views on a proposed 20 mph limit around Fairley Road. The manditary speed limit will be enforced using 'speed bumps'. As Fairley Road is a key access point to and from Kingswells the views of all residents are important.

To allow KCC to represent your views please use this poll as part of the feedback. Your views can be added to the POLL and passed to Peter

Aberdeen city centre road closures

A stretch of city centre road will be closed next week to allow for essential maintenance.

Bon Accord Terrace will close on Monday, 9 June, for up to five days between the Justice Mill Lane and West Craibstone Street junctions to ensure public safety while BT carries out manhole cover repairs.

Householders will have access to properties but there will be no through road. Alternative routes will be available via West Craibstone Street, Bon-Accord Square, East Craibstone Street, Bon Accord Street and Langstane Place.

Bogus Workmen Warning

Bogus builders, roofers and gardeners are operating door to door in Aberdeen.

The complaints concern workmen not only offering roofing, guttering and cladding work, but also gardening work and driveway repairs. One incident involved a potential rate of almost £1,000 per hour. Fortunately Trading Standards staff managed to step in before the money was paid over.

Such traders can be extremely persuasive and often target the elderly and vulnerable. They often quote low prices, but those prices frequently escalate as the work progresses.

Doonies "friends" get 60 days to save farm

Doonies Farm was today given the chance of a new lease of life by Aberdeen city councillors - who urged citizens to "use it or lose it".

The rare breeds farm on the coast road between Nigg Bay and Cove will stay open until the end of May to give an external group of supporters the chance to draw up a viable business plan to keep it open permanently all year round.

Closure to the public at the end of May will give farm staff time to finalise preparations for complete closure, if that is ultimately required.
