My understanding of the Option 1 cycle route is to consider the safety of school kids using this route. Keeping the route close to the existing road allows cyclists to be seen from the road at all times and allows easy access to passing motorists in case of a breakdown / puncture / accident / illness.
The problem with the Option 1 is that it is longer and includes more hills than Option 2. It is obvious that the adult cyclists will go for Option 2. I would like to propose the mark up as an alternative to Option 1.

Bucksburn to Kingswells Non Motorised User (NMU) Path Link
Public consultation on the corridor options of a path link between Kingswells and Bucksburn.
For a number of years ACC has received representations from the communities of Bucksburn and Kingswells requesting the creation of a link between the two areas for non-motorised users. The Neighbourhood Community Action Plans for both Kingswells and Bucksburn, developed following extensive public consultation, identify a need for better walking and cycling links between the two communities.

At its meeting of 10 July 2008, Aberdeen City Council’s Planning Committee agreed to consult on a draft Aberdeen Masterplanning Process. This document sets out the format and protocol for preparing for significant new developments around the City. The official report which followed the 2006 Aberdeen Local Plan Inquiry was critical of the standards of design and layout of development carried out around the city over the past few years.

At its meeting of 10 July 2008, Aberdeen City Council’s Planning Committee agreed to carry out a consultation exercise on a draft Development Framework for Kingswells, which sets out the way in which the development of land for housing to the south of the existing village at Kingswells may be approached. This document is now being made available for public consultation.

Aberdeen City Council is looking for feedback from you on their proposal for the Core Path Network. Your views are required before 25th October 2008.

Currently, the roads around Kingswells are grid locked around peak times in the morning and evening. As a result there is some ‘rat running' down Fairley Road to avoid the lights at the Park and Ride. Speed checks on Fairley Road have recorded speeds of 36 mph.
The results of the consultation on traffic calming at Fairley Road are:
| For or Against Traffic Calming | Count |
| Against | 10 |
| For | 4 |

Following the first full month of First Aberdeen's revised network, ACC is now seeking feedback on the revised services.

KCC is looking for feedback on suggestions made for spending our Small Project Grant.
The grant is £3,000 per year and from now on has to be spent each year by the end of December. We currently have two years grant to spend in 2008. Please add your suggestions or comment on suggestions made. If your suggestion is more long term then if approved we can get on with the planning and allocate funds in a future year. If your suggestion is a 'quick fix' then it will be considered for current funding.
