My understanding of the Option 1 cycle route is to consider the safety of school kids using this route. Keeping the route close to the existing road allows cyclists to be seen from the road at all times and allows easy access to passing motorists in case of a breakdown / puncture / accident / illness.
The problem with the Option 1 is that it is longer and includes more hills than Option 2. It is obvious that the adult cyclists will go for Option 2. I would like to propose the mark up as an alternative to Option 1.
The blue route will have less ups and downs, but is in the country.
The green route is higher than the blue route, but stays close to the road.
Both blue and green routes tie into existing farm tracks, and cut down the overall length and cost of the cycle track.
If you agree with either of these alternatives please refer to them in your submission
