Kingswells Bus service

Ian's picture

There have been a few complaints about buses in Kingswells that do not appear at all the bus stops in Kingswells. It would appear as if the buses are diverted by the contol room.

Can you please let KCC know if this is happening to you, or if you have other issues with the bus service.

The service is supposed to be every 15 minutes. If this is not what you experience then please let KCC know.

Thanks

Ian

Last time I got the bus was on 21/8/08.  Picked up the bus on Union Street at 16:05 - which involved a 30 minute wait so the buses weren't running every 15 minutes.  As the old cliché says, the bus was then immediately followed by another.

Anyway - when we got to Hazelhead, the bus driver stopped and asked us all to get out and get on the bus that was following us (by this time it was 5 mins behind).  The bus driver said that as he was running late, he was going to miss out Kingswells.  He proceeded to turn back into town and we got on the next bus. Most of the passengers were school kids so they did what they were told without hassle, but a few older folks complained - but we got no where.  In the end, it was no major hassle to us - just another delay and a minor disruption.  However, there must have been folks waiting for the bus in Kingswells and it never turned up.

I've only started using the bus (albeit infrequently) recently myself, but my son uses it for school run now.  We get on at Derbeth, and the times seem hit and miss vs. the timetable.  With the regular service, I'm never sure if the buses are leaving early or late !  I'm not convinced the route through Kingswells is the most optimum but I'm not clever enough to suggest better so cant complain.  What is poor, without doubt,  is the cleanliness of the buses.  I'm not convinced some of them have seen a mop and bucket for a long time !

I have three reports, two did effect me other did not.

On Thursday 28 August I went to the stop at Concraig Gardens at 1450 for a service that is due at the terminus at 1500,the next service arrived at 1515.

The other incident was on Wednesday 3 September while I was walking from the terminus at Derbeth Grange down Kingswells Crescent towards the Concraig Gds stop at about 1540,3 buses went past towards the terminus in the space of 5 minutes.

There was  further incident which I reported to First. On 17 July, once again I was at Concraig gds at about 1450 for the 1500 service, the first service arrived at 1520 when the bus got to the terminus I was asked to get off the bus and get on the bus behind.
When I asked First why this had happened, the reply was that the driver of the bus that was running late was unaware that service behind him was so close otherwise there would have been an "out of service" sign on the bus and it would not have stopped.
