At its meeting of 10 July 2008, Aberdeen City Council’s Planning Committee agreed to consult on a draft Aberdeen Masterplanning Process. This document sets out the format and protocol for preparing for significant new developments around the City. The official report which followed the 2006 Aberdeen Local Plan Inquiry was critical of the standards of design and layout of development carried out around the city over the past few years. The new process should encourage better standards and design quality and ensure the incorporation of necessary infrastructure, community facilities and linkages to help make successful places. The Masterplanning process will also allow for the involvement of communities in the evolution of their areas and to promote better design quality for significant developments.
