U-turn over controversial campsites for travellers city council set to bow to public pressure

Aberdeen Journals

Article by By Calum Ross

Aberdeen City Council is on the brink of bowing to public pressure and abandoning deeply unpopular plans to create four travellers halting sites, the Press and Journal can reveal.

Fierce opposition to the plans - and claims of death threats and intimidation by one councillor - has prompted the local authority's political leaders to ask officials to go back to the drawing board.

Police Report November 2008

AREA INSPECTOR'S ASSESSMENT

It is disheartening to report that there have been four reported Vandalisms across the Community during this reporting period; they remain undetected at this time.

A Theft by Housebreaking to a dwelling house in the community and a Housebreaking With Intent To Steal at the old Kingswells primary school in Fairley Road similarly remain undetected at this time. Enquiries, however, are very much in hand.

Response to Fiona and Others on Kingswells.com Regarding the KCC Grant

Fiona and All,

The comment in the minutes refers to a change in funding where the grant is given out in April rather than January as it was last year. That raises the question of when the current grant needs to be spent December or March. This has now been clarified – December.

Please be assured that KCC do not intend losing any of the grant money.

Not all of the suggestions put forward are good from the grant point of view. KCC have identified some of this on the KCC website.

Cycle Track Options and Proposed Redmyres Halting site

Since the end of the consultation on the cycle track between Kingswells and Bucksburn it has come to the attention of KCC that one of the proposed gypsy halting sites is Redmyres. This can be seen on the attached image (click to see enlarged image). The proposal would include a new access track that will run north from the site to Newhills.
