Our grateful thanks to the Lord Provost ( Peter Stephen) and Cllr. Len Ironside for voting against the proposal to place a Halting Site on the Park and Ride at Kingswells at the Full Council Meeting on the 21st November. They both represented the views of the majority of people in their constituency of Kingswells. Thank you. We are disappointed, at voting, it was not successful in getting Kingswells Park and Ride removed from future consideration.
Cllr. Wendy Stuart refrained from voting.
Kingswells Community Council will continue to calmly represent the residents of Kingswells, and others in the city and shire, who have objected to the Park and Ride (upper on lower car park) being considered as Halting Site - even as a temporary measure.
The council has, today, voted to take more time to investigate alternative sites. Kingswells Community Council will continue to work with the council to try and resolve this difficult, sensitive problem by trying to find a more suitable site in the North Area of Aberdeen. This is not a case of NIMBY' ism but an honest desire to see an outcome which is agreeable, and meets the needs, of both settlers and travellers.
