The bus service to Kingswells will be changing again on 14th Feb, 2010.
See http://kwells.org/kwells3/content/first-aberdeen-service-changes-14th-fe... for a summary and the attachment for the full details.
In brief: the 14 will no longer serve Kingswells. The 40 will go round the village and serve the Park and Ride. Journey times will increase. In the evenings and bank holidays when the 40 does not run, the 23 will run from Sheddocksley to Kingswells.
It is not clear if the 40 will make additional stops enroute to Aberdeen City Centre.
What are your views - KCC need to feed these back to First.
What new timings? Where do you get your data?
Devastated by its removal! We depend on this service heavily at evening and weekend times to avoid taking the car to reach various locations along the stretch from Queen's Road into town. Bus travel also ensured that no-one in the family was affected by the non-drink and drive legislation when enjoying a night out. Now we'll have to revert to designated driver again - so more arguments!
How can current proposals be put forward to dramatically increase the number of new homes in Kinsgwells and then only give us what cannot even be classed as a second-rate tranport service? 43 minutes for a journey to town is totally unacceptable when a car journey can take a maximum of 15 minutes. Not an environmentally friendly way forward at all. We are certainly not getting good value for council tax money in regard to public services at Kingswells. How much more can they take away from us?
I'm shocked as I've only just found out. How the heck do I get from Kingswells to say Queens Cross or anywhere else along that route? There is nothing along Lang Stracht except for the hospital which is way down - oh and the curling hall. Both the 40 and 23 use Lang Stracht. What about the other side, Queens Road side. There are schools, swimming hall, parks, businesses, doctors, Albyn hospital, dentists, places of employment. It's unbelieveable.
There isn't even a bus that we can take to Westhills from Kingswells. Only if you hike up to the dual carriage way (cross it somehow without getting run over) take a stagecoach bus I guess - do your shopping in West Hills then return to KW laden down with 4 heavy bags of shopping and pad-the-hoof all the way though Kingswells. Yeh that sounds like a really really good idea.
What is wrong with First Bus Group. Well I know where their head is ........ !!!
Presumably this latest reduction in service is not intended to act as an irresistible incentive for reducing private car use in favour of public transport?
Shall we just flip the council a collective finger when it congratulates itself on the success of an integrated transport network?
Yet another change by first group. They have worked hard since the last change to stop buses coming to the village. The new 40 looks like an old version of the 40 and once again no consultation with the public. The service provided by first bus on the 14 route is terrible, buses being turned at woodend without concern for the public , buses not turning up for over an hour in the city centre whilst up to four 40 route buses is seen to pass through union street. Why introduce yet another service from the lang stracht when the distance from woodend to the village cannot be much different. What happens when you want to go to Woodend hospital, visit the cemetery at the crematoriam, or go to hazlehead gardens, what bus service do you use? What about the senior citizens in the residential home at Denhead, will they now have to walk down to Hazlehead. As far as I can see the people of Woodend/hazlehead are well served by buses. The people of Kingswells deserve better from a Public Service and First Bus is not providing the service. Why should the residents of this community take 40 minutes to go five miles when other communities are well served with their public transport. It is time that someone in authority looked at the way this company treats passengers . Aberdeen Council would like the general public to use public transport and reduce congestion, why then dont they do something about this matter . I would like to have a public debate on this issue.

Passengers will have to be very careful about new timings. Definitely journey will increase. Actually i am doing my ccna bootcamp and this is really a right choice at right time. That's why i am going to be effected with this new timings.
