Developers behind the Prime Four Business Park on the outskirts of Kingswells have reiterated their commitment to take on board local views on the development by launching a consultation exercise seeking residents’ views on the Park’s next phases.

Working with Aberdeen City Council and Kingswells Community Council, Drum Property Group is now considering future office developments in Phases 2 and 3 as well as the make-up of the Community Hub proposed within the second phase.

“We will be replicating the elements of the highly successful Phase 1 community consultation exercise carried out in the summer of last year,” commented Drum Director Graeme Bone.

“A questionnaire seeking preliminary views on the proposals will be available at http://www.primefour.co.uk from 1 February and residents are encouraged to let us have their views”

Free internet access is available at the City’s public libraries for those who might not have home access.

“The Community Hub was the subject of much discussion during last year’s consultation with suggestions as to what might be included ranging from small scale retail space to a hotel, restaurant and dental surgery,” said Mr Bone.

“We are particularly keen to hear local views on this part of our proposals as the Hub presents a real opportunity to enhance the range of facilities available to the residents of Kingswells.”

The online consultation will run until the end of March and is being supported by a community planning event being held at the Fourmile House on Wednesday, 22 February.

This event will include a number of interactive sessions where attendees can work with Drum’s design team to highlight likes and dislikes about the proposals.

More information about the event will be advertised on the KCC and Prime Four websites, The Citizen newspaper and on posters throughout the village during the next few weeks.

Following last year’s consultation exercise a Development Framework and Phase 1 Masterplan for Prime Four was submitted to Aberdeen City Council and adopted by them in September.

Detailed planning applications were subsequently submitted on behalf of three of the world’s leading energy corporations (Apache North Sea, Nexen Petroleum UK and Transocean Drilling UK) and Drum hope to make a site start later this year.

Please contact Claire McArthur at Halliday Fraser Munro (01224 388700 or claire.macarthur@hfm.co.uk) for any further information.

An area at Prime Four will be set aside for the inclusion of shops, leisure facilities and a hotel. It is expected that this area will be used by occupiers of Prime Four and by the local community. Proposal of Application notices (i.e. a notice intimating that we intend submitting planning application(s) for this area) have been submitted to Aberdeen City Council.

As part of the developer's on-going public consultation exercise at Prime Four, they are keen to gather as much information as possible from local residents to help inform the detailed design of the Hub area. They have provided an online questionnaire to allow you to provide any comments you wish to make.

Your comments will assist in preparing more detailed proposals for the area which can be discussed at the public event to be held at the Fourmile house on Wednesday 22nd February.

Kingswells Community Council will not have direct access to your response to the questionnaire, so please help stimulate some community debate by sharing your views in this forum as well as the information you provide to Drum Properties.

Thanks

Kingswells Community Council

We badly need more, and better facilities for residents. Where do we start?

A good restaurant/cafe open to residents- Could work within a hotel

Swimming pool/gym/tennis courts

Lots of greenery

Good security and sympathetic lighting

Flowing, controlled traffic and cycle facilities

Even great retail- A waitrose, markies or Sainsburys would be most welcome and much needed as the customer 'service'  and choice at co-op is poor

All of the above would make me a very happy tax payer!
